A great sensor

Date Purchased: 12/01/2010

Pros:
Very good software. I find that the sensor is very easy to place, even with children

Cons:
The price is very high and the warranty is only 1 year long. I also feel that the support fee is quite high.

Comments:
It would be helpful if the Dexis software supported more manufacturers products. It needs to be more compatible with other digital X-ray systems

One size fits all

Date Purchased: 1-5 years

Pros:
Great sensor. Love the USB connection. Fits well in nearly every patient.

Cons:
Software is a bit dated and could integrate more fully with Dentrix. Stacked intra oral photos are hard to browse.

Comments:
I gave low score on value as cost of sensor is much higher than necessary in my opinion.

Great quality, costly to maintain

Date Purchased: 08/01/2009

Pros:
Excellent clinical quality, comfortable for patients, 1 size sensor fits all, easy to use software.

Cons:
Sensors develop artifacts fairly quickly, costly to maintain, multiple sensors does not greatly decrease yearly plan, which makes it not worth getting.

Comments:
Assistants love the ease of use.

Support is Awesome!

Date Purchased: 6-10 years

Pros:
Their on-line support is awesome. When we have had any problems, we have been able to get the issues resolve immediately. Over the years of use, we have had to replace a few sensors, but they backed the products with their warranty, and we got replacement sensors right away so we had little or no down time.

Cons:
The sensors are expensive, but I suppose all of this technology is.

Comments:
The DEXIS sensor system is the only one that I have used, but I am very happy with the product performance, design, and service. The software integrates with my other software systems very well.

The Only Sensor to Have In Your Office

Date Purchased: 1-5 years

Pros:
The image quality is superior to any other sensor on the market, and I tried them all prior to my first purchase several years ago. We now have 11 of the Platinum in 5 offices. The rounded edges and the offset cord make it easy and quick to take high quality images.

Cons:
None

Comments:
The integration with this sensor into my Dentrix software is so seamless that I think they have set the bar for all sensors.

Could not practice without it.

Date Purchased: Less than one year

Pros:
To begin with, using a digital X-ray system has made life a lot easier compared to film. It is much easier to store and retrieve clinical records. My patients find it easier see and understand the X-ray information. My team finds that the rounded corners on the DEXIS sensor helps with placement of the sensor, particularly in small adults and children where there is not much space to work with.

Cons:
On a rare occasion, typically due to large tori, we cannot place the sensor properly for an intraoral X-ray and must use our digital panoramic unit. This is pretty rare however, and the DEXIS sensor design works for nearly all situations. The only other concern that I have had is that the technology is expensive, particularly the initial cost when first making the change from film to digital. The benefits are many and I have found the cost to be justified.

Comments:
I could not practice without this system. I use it for all general intraoral exam radiography, as well as for endo and implant procedures. While I purchased my latest DEXIS Platinum system about a year ago, I have been using DEXIS sensors since 1999. I have had only one sensor fail in the past 14 years. I am on a warranty maintenance contract, and DEXIS replaced that failed sensor immediately. The maintenance contract is well worth it.

I recommend -extremely highly!

Date Purchased: 6-10 years

Pros:
Elegant software, easy to use, low learning curve, a pleasure to use everyday. The sensor is comfortable--no exaggeration. Patients compliment us almost every day. My team members that work part time at other offices convinced their doctors to switch to DEXIS--that is how much the team loves the product. Vertical BWX--so easy! My team can do an FMX within 7 minutes -each time!

Cons:
None really--maybe this? The company listens to your suggestion for the next upgrade of software---wish they could release faster? But maybe I am asking too much as I am unaware of the entire process. Thanks, DEXIS, for listening to dentists!

Comments:
My suggestion: If you are thinking of digital X-rays, start with the best.Buy DEXIS. Don't think you will save money and buy a cheaper version. You want a system that really improves patient care, patient experience and your team's experience. You want the image to be clear with the least amount of radiation. You want to be proud to have the top system on the market. Patients will feel this confidence.

Date Purchased: 12/20/2003

Pros:
Highly recommended! This product is the best part of my day. It always works and works well. Great feed back from the patients on being comfortable because of the rounded corners. Image appears almost instantly so we know if we have the required anatomy on the image. We had the original sensor for 10 years before we turned it in (in working condition) to receive the upgraded sensor. Great training program comes with the software and sensor.

Cons:
I have no complaints with this product. Find a good software installer and the product is awesome from the start.

Comments:
